A Suitcase Full of Stories

Chelmsford Theatre Studio

Thursday 21 September: due to unforeseen circumstances this event has had to be postponed

We will endeavour to run this event again as soon as we are able to. If you are interested in attending a future version of this event please email outreach.theatre@chelmsford.gov.uk and we will update you when we have a new date.

Those who were booked on the original date will be contacted about the postponement.

A Suitcase Full of Stories is a free drama workshop for those living with early onset dementia, their careers, friends and family. It will be a morning of reminiscent storytelling around the theme of summer holidays.

Led by our dementia arts facilitator, during the workshop you will unpack objects linked to summer from a suitcase while stories of past, present, and future summer holidays will be told.

Objects like seashells, buckets and spades, the smell of sun cream and the taste of ice cream act as triggers and sensory stimuli.

Participants are also encouraged to bring along their own items relating to summer holidays and share their memories invoked by the objects, whether they’re real or imagined.

No previous drama experience is needed to take part. Up to two carers or family and friends can attend alongside the person living with dementia. Refreshments are included.
