Musical in a Week: Technical Programme (13-18)

Mon 3 - Fri 7 August 2026

discover

Working with our talented technical crew in a professional theatre, you will spend your first three days being introduced to the world of technical theatre. You will get hands on as you learn all about the worlds of lighting, sound and stage management.

The final two days are spent with our performers, as you learn to mark up and script and run a technical rehearsal! All of this concludes in you taking on a role in the final performance, either as a lighting operator, sound operator, running follow spot or stagehand. You will be supported in running the technical aspects for a full production, in just one week!

To take part in the technical theatre pathway, we ask you complete this short application form. Applications will close on the 20th May, or earlier if we receive significant applications. All young people will find out within a week if they have been given a place or have been put on our waitlist.

Each young person will receive two free tickets, and other tickets can be purchased. It is a non-negotiable that young people attend all five days, including the performance at 6:30pm on Friday 7th August.

Chelmsford Theatre is fully committed to creating a fully inclusive Discover Programme. We ask that if you have any questions, or would like some additional support that you contact us at outreach.theatre@chelmsford.gov.uk
